I am a full time research forest ecologist and ecophysiologist at the INRAE University of Bordeaux , in the  Biogeco Research Unit.

I’m  working on invasive trees to analyse rapid evolution and disentangle the genetic and environmental determinisms of phenotypic traits. Currently, I’m analysing data on Quercus rubra to evaluate its rapid evolution since introduction. I also work with  a more applied approach to assess invasive tree management practices and  help managers, in particular management of Ailanthus altissima.

In 2019, Régis Burlett started his PhD (co-advisor L Wingate, ISPA, Bordeaux). His project is focused on the analysis of the response of plants to water stress, to identify the mechanisms and determinisms of leaf shedding under drought. I’m developing image analyse codes to monitor leaf coloring under drought.

In early 2019, I spent 3 months in San Carlos de Bariloche in Argentina. Under the ClimatAmSud framework, we also prepared a project for future collaborations on tree diebacks of the Andean cordillera forest It will be the occasion to collaborate with Anso Sergent, Ale Gonzalez Meier and Guille dalla Salda in Argentina,  Alejandro Venegas en Chile and Marcos Arizapana in Peru.

Since 2020, I’m getting involved in Hedgerow and Urban Ecology. Urban forest is being considered as a potential solution to adapt cities to climate change. I built a scientific consortium working in ecology, geography, bioclimatoly, microbiology, sociology and submitted a project to investigate the services and disservices of Urban Forest towards People. This is achieved with the Bordeaux Metropole forest service. In paralell, working with farmers in Charente Limousine (CIVAM), we are starting research and trials to adapt hedgerows to increased droughts.
